Mike Levine: Voice Actor

A Little Background

(First Personally Speaking)

I’ve been using my voice to amuse myself and others, almost forever. Whether, as a kid, imitating Laurel & Hardy; in college theater as the Russian waiter in Room Service; creating characters with funny voices to entertain my children; performing innumerable accents in live theater; or, most recently, working in murder mystery dinner theater as Peter Falk’s Columbo.

The most rewarding thing about all this, is hearing that my many “audiences” have enjoyed my efforts. And I’ve received quite a few compliments on my voice from cast members and others. Some have commented on the energy I bring to the stage. Or that I sound authoritative, and often comforting, as the situation demands. Other descriptions that I’ve heard include: outdoorsy, convincing, caring, and leaning toward edgy, sardonic humor (when appropriate . . . usually). Also, my technical (math & science) background complements my skill set.

I have earned a reputation for reliability, both in my other career as a graphic designer (often acting as both designer and copywriter), and in my personal dealings. As an actor, many directors (as well as my voice over trainers) have commented on my ability to quickly and effectively respond to direction. So, I can state with confidence that, as a voice actor, I have the flexibility to bend to the needs of a given project, without fear of breaking my spirit, the bank, or the client’s heart. My focus is to produce high quality results within a realistic time frame. And I never make promises that I can’t keep.
